The primary goal of hygienic design is to improve food safety and minimize the risk of contamination. That means designing cryogenic equipment that is easy to clean and minimizes areas that may trap food particles and harbor moisture and harmful bacteria.
Our latest hygienic designs, such as the new CRYOWAVE® IQF freezer (pictured), include smooth surfaces that are sloped for rapid drainage to help maintain sanitary conditions. Our new cryogenic freezers also permit easy access to belts and other internal areas for cleaning and maintenance. For mixer chilling operations, our hygienic LIXSHOOTER® bottom injectors seal against the blender wall and minimize debris collection and entrapment.
To help ensure the integrity of modified atmosphere packaging operations, our patented MAPAX® LD leak detection system tests MAP packages inline at high speed – and can achieve 100 percent sampling in real-time.
Proper temperature control during food processing can add another important layer of plant protection against food-borne pathogens, including E. coli, Salmonella, and other bacteria. Linde’s high-efficiency cryogenic freezing and chilling systems can provide tightly controlled temperatures for better food quality and safety.
Linde LLC supports the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and the advancement of food safety. Linde has a Food Safety Management System in place for all bulk carbon dioxide (CO2) plants and air separation facilities supplying the food & beverage industry in North America. In June 2012, Linde became the first supplier to certify all of its CO2 plants to a benchmarked GFSI scheme, FSSC 22000 (Food Safety System Certification).
